What does fruitfulness look like for you?

The pictures above portray and express my thoughts in relation to Cultural awareness and intelligence.

Imagine being taken from a budding stage of awareness, to the flowering stage of fruitfulness. Being able to flower and be fruitful in your communication and relationships as a coach, at work and in your local community.

Being able to put a name to my awareness and intelligently navigate cross cultural relationships. This has been a learning experience for me and could be for anyone who desires growth and transformation for themselves and their clients.

My learning could be likened to that of Moses and the burning bush. He looked “and behold, the bush was burning with fire, but the bush was not consumed.”

I was curious and stirred towards attending the Dancing Between Cultures course/training immediately after my FOCOS training as a coach. How could this training enhance my coaching skills? What tools will this training offer me to help my clients and people in my community?

I learnt very quickly how culture could be seen as an “iceberg.” Culture is not only the visual part of my relationship with people - what I see, hear, smell or feel from my coaching and relationships. It’s the underlying, unseen influences that makes me curious and ask questions of how they made their decisions and what influenced it. As a coach, I was able to focus on what my clients were bringing to the table, especially to understand what is being communicated from the client’s cultural perspective.

Partnering with the client is what coaching is all about. Coaching my clients from Nigeria, I had to “level up” the partnership. This was mainly due to the “status culture" they were living in while I was living in the UK where equality in relations is the cultural value. This is just one of the cultural values, which, having learnt, has helped transform the learning and insight of my coaching clients and relationships.

Attending the DBC training to me seemed like being promoted. Like Moses in the Bible, it started with the burning bush, being curious and turning aside to investigate. It leads to further directions from God. Could this be the missing tool/key that enhances you as a coach and helps transform your clients in this season?
